Most screening platforms lead with "live". ChartsBay is doing the opposite: the platform is being built as an end-of-day product — daily, weekly and monthly — and we are putting the market-data licensing in place before opening it to anyone.
That ordering is deliberate, and it is worth explaining, because it shapes what the product is.
Exchange data is licensed, even when nobody sees a chart
Price data belongs to the exchange it comes from. Displaying it, storing it, or running analytics over it — even analytics that only ever output a signal, with no candle rendered anywhere — are all licensed uses. A screener that evaluates conditions against exchange prices is squarely in scope, whatever its latency.
Plenty of tools skate over this. We would rather not. A platform whose core promise is "trust what this screen tells you" should not be built on data it has no clear right to use, and a licence is much easier to negotiate honestly before launch than to retrofit after one.
What end-of-day actually costs you — and what it doesn't
Being end-of-day means the platform has nothing to say about the next five minutes. If your process needs intraday ticks, ChartsBay is not built for it.
For screening, though, the loss is smaller than it looks. A screen is a question about character — is this company growing, is this price structure intact, is this sector leading — and character is a daily-and-up question. Fundamentals change quarterly. Trend and relative strength are measured in weeks and months. Running that screen after the close, on settled data, answers it as well as any live feed would, without the noise of a half-formed session.
Weekly and monthly views come from the same daily series, bucketed coarser at read time — one licensed source, three lenses.
Where that leaves the platform
Screening on readable conditions, fundamentals and price in one place, market universes maintained from published index and listing membership, charts on daily and coarser candles, and relative-strength views of sectors and industries — all of it end-of-day, all of it inside the scope of the licence we are pursuing.
There is no sign-up yet, and that is on purpose: we would rather open the doors with the paperwork done. If you want to hear when that happens, write to support@chartsbay.in.
